What is going on with Help in 2013?

88425

When I hit F1 in Revit, Help opens WORD!!!!!!! Then, after a lengthy pause, it asks for a username and password. I have no idea what user and pwd to use so it keeps asking. After a few tries I get a screen full of junk. Then, it fails.

What do I have to do to get help with F1 without the song and dance?

What browser is your default? I wonder if the OS thinks it needs to hand off the Revit Wiki text to a word processing app.

R2012 Help works correctly on the same machine!

Sounds like it might be related to your Revit INI file. Have you made changes to the INI file recently? Try replacing the INI file with one from a machine where it is working or doing a repair of the install to get it back to the default INI.

I believe its suppose to find the IE target and open through there. See attached of what my Revit.ini file reads like. Let me know if that helps Mike.

F1 opens in whatever the default browser setting is for my machine, which is Firefox in my case.

Cheers,

I had the same settings as you, but in a different order. I changed the order to match yours and it worked. HOWEVER, Instead of WORD this time, I got the generic autodesk help screen for every autodesk product. I had to fish around for Revit, THEN it asked for my Autodesk ID. Fortunately, I wrote that down years ago and it worked. I hope Revit is remembering all this; I don't want all this happening every time I hit F1!
