View Full Version : 2013 Duplicating Keynote Schedules

I'm trying to set up our general notes and specs using a keynote schedule (more-or-less as described in this post: http://www.augi.com/library/tips-for-manipulating-text-in-revit). It looks like a promising approach to controlling the appearance of text.

One very appealing feature of this method is that I can keep a master file from which I will be able to copy and paste the notes and specs into new projects.

One limitation seems to be that I can't duplicate these keynote schedules in the same way that I can duplicate door and window schedules (see first image below)

I would like to be able to duplicate these views so that I can remove rows and change the way that the notes appear on the sheet. For example, see below image, where I would change the layout from vertical to horizontal by (I wish) duplicating the view, eliminating top or bottom rows from each copy as necessary, and dragging both onto the sheet to be positioned in a more horizontal fashion (I hope I haven't lost you here).

Is there something that I can do to make the keynote schedule "duplicatable?" Or am I stuck?

Hi Stacy,

You're right in that this is one of the main drawbacks to this workaround. The reason these key schedules don't support duplication is that each key schedule creates a new "key" parameter which cannot be duplicated. I've seen lots of crazy workarounds to this problem and none of them strikes me as particularly elegant.

Based on your own situation Note Blocks might be a better route, as Note Blocks can be duplicated as well as easily filtered. When I made this video about the use of Note Blocks, I created a drafting view that had an instance of a symbol for each line of text that I needed in my "schedule". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erzi1mktH6U&feature=share&list=PLF9E0BB76C2C03D97

It's certainly not ideal, as a good text editor is really what we need, but I think the use of a Note Block would serve you better. Other possible workarounds include Keynotes and Legends.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Glynnis! I will look into Note Blocks.
