View Full Version : 2013 How Do You Locate a Dimension That You've Selected By ID?

An error popped up telling me that one of my dimension references "are or have become" invalid. I selected the dimension by using its Element ID number, but I can't locate the dimension in any of my views. All I can see is some faint evidence of it (constraint paths and anchors) in two or three views. I checked these views for hidden dimensions, but no dice.

Examples of the evidence are circled in red in the images below:

Is there some trick to pinning down the location of a dimension?

Hi Stacy,

Are you working with any linked files? Are your dimensions category on in the views in which you were looking? Dimensions, are view specific so, unless you're looking at the view (or a dependant view) in which they were created, you won't see them. Can you just delete it, and move on? Or reference an older set to see if any dimensions are missing?

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

The dimension is probably on a view that looks at the same area of the model your Evidence image is looking at. You might look at a reflected ceiling plan or another plan of that roof level.
