Wall Merging problems

I've got an interior and exterior wall that just don't want to merge. I'm fairly new with the architectural side of Revit, but thought I could figure this out. More than likely this is something minor that I'm overlooking but I need some help. Attached is my interior wall (running horizontal) and my exterior wall (running vertical). I want the stud in each wall to merge and not show the lines in the exterior wall.

Is the exterior wall in a separate Linked model? If so, it will not "join". If not, it should. Try using Join Geometry tool.

I'm guessing that has already joined. Perhaps what you're seeing is a situation where one wall has been given a specific material in one of its structure layers (i.e. stud). It's now trying to join with another wall where the layer to which it's joining is a different material. Only when both layers have the exact same material would the join work properly.
