Just loaded the new combined Revit 2013 from the Building Design Suite. I noticed that some windows were not showing the Room designation in the Window Schedule. After much, much checking I've come to the conclusion the problem lies in the window parameters. The windows that don't show properly in the schedule have the Room parameter listed under "Dimensions". Those that do show properly has the Room parameter listed under "Text" and "Dimensions".
I've tried to edit the family, but the Room parameter does not seem to appear anywhere. I've tried adding a Room parameter under "Text" but it makes no difference.
Incidently, I checked it out with Revit 2012 also the 2012 Library, but it still has the same problem.
Any and all reasonable suggestions how to resolve this problem are most welcome.
PS
Made a last ditch effort and found the solution. Had to make the Room parameter a shared parameter so it would show in the schedule.

The room information can still be accessed in the window schedule, by using the 'Select available fields from:' drop down. If the window does not display a room, that means it is probably referencing the exterior of the building, or a void within the building that is not assigned as a room. This is similar to the door schedules. Look for 'From Room' or 'To Room'.
These fields are not available within the family editor, and automatically appear when the family is loaded into a project.
I hope this helps,
Jeff S.

Thanks Jeff, I'll give that a try. I did think about the window might not be referencing the room, but when I checked the Room Area it seemed to include at least part of the window. How would it reference the exterior? If it is, how do I get it t to reference the room? Bearing in mind my solution worked as no doubt does yours.

Create a room with room separate lines on exterior side of the window and name it "exterior". I do the same thing on our door schedules in order to display the proper "room to" and "room from" fields in Revit.

When added to your schedule your room fields become a drop down. At most there are only two rooms available to select. Select the room that is inside your building. I really don't like the idea of adding an exterior room. Well it may help you identify what windows need to be changed, so does an empty field.

Thanks for the input guys, but I think its just as easy creating the shared parameter and using that.

Not really.
If you use the "From Room: or "To Room:" name, any changes to the Rooms are automatically updated.
If you use a Shared Parameter, it's up to you to manually coordinate any changes.
