Linked models mysteriously vanishing

We have noticed linked models mysteriously vanishing recently. Our set up is that we have a linked model that is in it's own Workset, so we can control the loading of the Workset when we open the model. We have seen recently that the link shows a loaded in Manage Links and its Workset is Open, but the link is shown as being Unloaded in the Project Browser and is not visible on the screen. If the link is reloaded from the Project Browser than the link shows up as loaded in the Project Browser and is visible on the screen. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon?

Yes--we have seen this as well. I think it has to do with the Owner of the Workset that the Links are on having a "stale" local copy, or that his/her file needs to be synched to central.
Worst case was having to remove all the Links, then re-link using Shared Coordinates. If there are tags or dimensions on the linked files, they will be deleted--so be careful.

The other thing we noticed was if the user who owned the Links Workset lost network connectivity, then the Links would disappear as you describe. Doing a CMD > ipconfig flushdns, release, renew
seemed to resolve it.

Thanks for the Tip. We tried your reccomendation, but the links still show up in the project browser as not loaded even though the workset is open and the model is shown loaded in the manage links.
