Fade elevations beyond

What work-arounds have people developed to fade an elevation that shows in the background of a section or when there is an elevation with elements in multiple planes? I've been trying to add a fine white diagonal crosshatch, but no density seems to give me what I want: too dense and Revit just doesn't print what is behind it, too coarse and there is no appreciable difference on the printed page.

Excellent, Cliff! Thanks. For the record, I went with a wall in an option set. I turn on the wall option in the appropriate views and override the graphics of the wall to ghost it. It's easy, the ghosted wall doesn't cast shadows, and it's quick. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
