History of Revit template files

Whilst you can review the history file of Revit *.rvt files, is there any way that you can view the history of a Revit template file *.rte?

I tried opening a new project with the template but the history only started from when I created the project..."I know... that was going to be obvious!". However there doesn't appear to be an obvious method for interigating the history of the original template file.

Since a Template is not Workshared, I doubt that there's any way to track its history.
What we'd done is create a Legend called zTemplateHistory (z... so it's at the end of the list)
Anytime anyone makes a change to the Template, they added a bit of text to the History.
