How to add negative offset to stringer

Hello,

Just started using Revit this week. I am making a staircase and the stringer does not line up to the ground floor, it goes above it. I tried to put a negative offset to the depth however it gives me an error saying: "Please enter a non-negative value less than 9144m.

Any help with this is appreciated. Thank you!

great question, had the same problem a couple weeks ago and ended up modeling all of my stringers individually with structural beams. this was only after I created 3 custom profiles with their own offset parameters that appear to function correctly within the family editor, but have no effect once loaded into a stair. suggestions?
