Revit Link -> 3DS max: Design Options

How do you handle design options when linking models into MAX? I've got about 7 design options in my model, and I cannot seem to figure out how I switch between them.

I haven't tried this yet, so I'm flying blind here. I have two ideas:

1) Set the Design Options of choice to "Primary" before linking

My second idea hinges around whether or not you can link a "View" rather than a "Project"

2) Create a View (or multiple Views) with the Design Options Visbility Graphics set to the different choices and link in the View (or multiple views)?
