Seriously?! I need to bring elements from one project into another (live, not as a link). In so doing, all those elements take on the phase of the view they are copied into, and Phase Demolished gets set to None. Is there any way to have the elements keep their phasing properties? I tried a simple copy / paste, converting to a group first, and linking/binding, all with the same results.

Paste into a view using the correct phase, new elements inherit view's phase, active workset too. An element copied to a different project is a new element, it doesn't know it should be demolished.

Perhaps an API routine could be written to select elements, store settings and then attempt to apply them after placing them into a different project. I'm not sure if the API can interact with the window's API for Copy and Paste though.

This has the potential to be an extremely powerful feature. So the question is, who will get to this first? Harry, or the factory? Go!

I have been on alot of renovation projects and came across this issue. What I do is copy and paste what I need to into the view. AND **before clicking anything*** you can go into the properties and change the phase and phase demolished to what you need it to be since what you pasted is still selected (double check at the bottom right hand of the screen that there are more than 0 items selected). Just do not click anything otherwise you will lose that selection. OR you can immediately isolate those elements. That is unless you are in a demo view, in which case is set to a future phase showing only what has already been set to demo. That you won't see, but you can still edit the properties - they will then show up.
