How to Import (not link) Revit geometry

We're struggling to find an efficient process to import Revit geometry into our templates. Our workflow right now is to hire a consultant to do the as-builts in Revit. He uses a blank template to start (he's using Revit LT which doesn't like work-sharing; all of our templates are work-shared. Typically we then copy-paste everything into our templates from a 3-d view (which we'd rather not have floating around). Occasionally our designers get ahead of us, and start designing in the as-built file. Then we've got phases involved, and when we copy-paste across, all the phases go to the view setting, screwing up everything and takes hours to correct. There has to be a better way to accomplish this... I know the Revit people would prefer we started in the right Template, but that's just not going to happen here. Any suggestions?

Instead of a brute-force copy-paste of everything in a 3d view all at once, could you spend a little time copying by phase? Set your 3d view to show just objects in a specific phase, then paste into another project also with the same phase. Just go through each phase. Never tried it, but it could work.

Thanks. I did try that - the phasing screws things up - the existing part works ok, but it won't let you select things like wall-fills for deleted windows - it just doesn't fit back together well. I ended up doing a Insert>Link then Bind then ungroup. For some reason the phases didn't come across here either. I had to manually go back through and re-phase everything.

I'm afraid that's probably about the best you can do.
I don' think there's any process that brings along Phases.
On top of that, you have to watch out for Demo'd items when you Bind. You have to actually delete the Demo'd items in the original model, because Revit brings along EVERYTHING. regardless of past, present of future

You can map phases to a link file. Just look under the Properties
