trouble creating dormer openings.

I have a curved dormer and it's been hell trying to create a dormer opening. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Trying to see my model in wireframe is of no use either. any tricks or ideas to create dormer openings?

Can you post an example, the dormer tool is pretty straight forward?
