the void in my elevation view is blanked out grey and it does not show beyond.

I modified a door to have sliders only at the middle. The left and right side of the sliders is empty to show the cabinets beyond. I see that my 3d views show that this is occuring but if you look at my elevation view you see grey blanked area.... What's going on? I checked the family to see maybe the void is not correct but I see that it is ... Hmmm.

Are the voids true openeings, or are they set to some transparent material? If the later this is usually how it works in orthogonal views.
