Automatic numbering

I was wondering if anybody knew how I could simply number objects. I heard their was a mod tool for '02 that coulkd but I cant find anything like it for 05' Can anybody help?

CommandLine: TCount

PullDownMenu: Express -> Text -> Automatic Text Numbering
