Class Description: An informal mentoring relationship has no specific goals and the outcomes are unknown. Conversely, a formal mentoring program links the development of employee competency with strategic business needs. In this session, we'll outline how to develop and implement a good mentoring program, and what roles a mentor should play in developing their protégé. We'll discuss how to assess employees to create a plan outline, how to use this assessment to pair mentors with their protégés, and how to define a mentoring relationship. We’ll also discuss the pros and cons of each type of mentoring relationship and how to decide which relationship would best fit your company.
