hi,
i'm trying my hand at dynblocks and am progressing adequately.
i've now stumbled on a minor nuisance.
dynblocks that have an alignment parameter do work as advertised,
but when i attach to a wall, they snap to the wall's baseline (usually centerline).
i wish them to snap to the wall, not a couple of inches in.

any suggestions?

had the same problem. if the drawings are made with architectural package use smart walls that is probally the issue. i still have not found away around and i have been trying at it for 3 years. one way to tell if its smart wall you dealing with is to open a new drawing, draw a line and insert the wall. if it offsets then the blocks insertion point my be off. also becarefull if there is hatching in the wall, the blocks will try to align to the hatcht patttern

You could move the Alignment Parameter a bit to compensate; but that is a lousy workaround.

thank you charles,
i agree it's a bit lousy, but still a nice idea.
i'll have to live with different walls (thickness).

thanx again,
karl

As a still-not-perfect, but perhaps not-quite-so-bad work-around, maybe add a move or stretch command to the alignment parameter so it can be adjusted to the offset needed on various walls?

As part of my background "cleanup" I run the aectoacad command, and kill all 'smart' objects. This allows my blocks to insert as expected ON the walls.
