Is anyone else having problems with Revit 2014 running really slow? I am working in a 3D view and using lights (both sun and artificial). I created the model in 2013 and just upgraded to 2014 and it's PAINFULLY slow with 2014. I click on anything and I get the spinning blue wheel for several minutes, it didn't used to do that.

Any thoughts? The computer I'm using is brand new (same one I used to create the model in 2013) and has 16GB of RAM with a 3.10 GHz Xeon processor (way more than Autodesk recommends) so it shouldn't be the machine.

No advice but I'm curious: what do you think of 2014 overall? I'm hesitating for a bit.

This post and your other post regarding printing issues lead me to believe that this particular view may be corrupt. Is the problem isolated to this view or is it general performance issues? Have you tried recreating the view?

Are you running your 2013 model in 2014 version?
Is this possible - You must excuse my ignorance - I am new to Revit, but i did not think this was possible.

A model created in 2013 can be opened in 2014, but in the process the model will be converted to the 2014 format and if you save it, it will be a 2014 model, which will not be usable in 2013.

Do you have hardware acceleration enabled? If you have a new machine, there may be issues recognizing the graphics card and you'll have to go into the Options menu to set it manually.
Using WARP will definitely slow view operations down.

I haven't been working much in 2014 other than this one little project so I can't really comment on how I like it so far - all I know is that I really liked 2013 and have run into a couple bumps with 2014.

As far as a corrupt view, how can I tell if it's corrupted? Should I make a new camera view and sorta start the process over? The model is small (only about 15MB) so that can't be causing the issue. I went into Options to turn off hardware acceleration and it gave me a video card error (saying the one I have is "too new" - go figure). I did turn of hardware accel but that didn't seem to help anything.

I'll try recreating the views and see if that helps.

This PDF took about 10 minutes to make. An notice the weird square on the right image? Anyone have any thoughts on what's happening? I turned off hardware acceleration and really don't know what else to do. I used Adobe X Standard to make the PDF.

Try to create a new view, don't duplicate, and see what that does...

Looks as if mental ray is having an issue rendering the rest of the area outside of the darker box in the image on the right. Does the right image have a sample area frame to only render a certain area? Maybe hidden in the view?

2014 was doing the same on my laptop, hesitated for a very long time with every change of view. turned off video hardware accelerator and problem solved.

Jessica...Had the same issue and had to rollback the graphics driver to an earlier version.

Having the same issue, pretty similar specs on my machine too, and I am not even rendering just general modelling and annotations at this stage, and compared to 2013 is painfully slow at general operations, even just selecting lines or model elements to delete...slowwww

Where do I find the hardware accelerator mentioned in the above posts, are you referring to the 3D accelerator? If so...its already turned off and still slow.

What flavor of Graphics card are you running?
Do you create a new local file every time you open?
Do you Audit your model every time you open?
What about the links that are in it, have you checked those? Have they been upgraded?
What chipset are you running?
How big is the model?
How many errors do you have?
All of these things will impact your model performance if not managed properly.
