View Full Version : 2014 Flip Control in Families Issue Revit 2014

I am creating a curtain panel for the corner that I want to flip horizontally depending on which corner it is on. I have done this countless times in previous versions of Revit, but in 2014 every time I edit the panel and reload all of the panels flip back to their original direction. When you are talking about hundreds of panels in various spots it becomes a big problem. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I have been able to recreate this problem.
1. First image is my curtain panel family. Very simple: no parameters, one locked angle dimension, void for miter condition, one control arrow.
2. Second image is my corner curtain wall with corner panels flipped to correct locations.
3. I edited the thickness of the glass and reloaded. All previous flipped corners resort back to original?
This definitely seems like some sort of bug. Why would the corners change after reload? As stated previously this did not happen in previous versions.
We work on many towers and this could be a nightmare for tall buildings with a lot of corners.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks.

Hi Rob,
Just wondering in the family that you posted, the control arrows seem to have been deleted? Not sure if the problem lies there, but when updating without the control arrows, perhaps Revit ignores the flip situation when you updated? Food for thought.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure what happened here is the correct family with the flip arrows. Still the same problem.
Thanks.

Well I finally got a response from Autodesk:
Hi Rob,
Thank you for your patience while the development team investigated the behavior. They have confirmed that the issue will require a product modification to correct but unfortunately they have not set a time frame when we can expect the resolution to be implemented. I am very sorry as I realize that this is not ideal for your workflow with the curtain panels but thank you for bringing it to our attention.
Since the developers have confirmed that the behavior will require a product modification to address and are currently working on addressing it, this case will be closed on the Product Support end. Please do not hesitate to reopen it if you have any follow up questions or if there is anything else I can do to help.
Best regards,
Katie Langan

hah, pretty much the same response I got about the Print Collate function (has not worked in at least a decade of Revit releases) and a few other things I've brought up recently.

We've been experiencing the same problem. I agree this is a huge problem when having to re-flip 100's of panels every time you reload. If anyone hears of a solution please post. Thanks

I started encountering this starting Friday. It seems to be somewhat inconsistant in that yesterday I had no issues, whereas today they have come back. Makes it hard to trouble shoot. I wonder what the time frame for product modification is? This is very frustrating even though I am working on a relatively small project. While small, the entire concept is based on Revit curtain panels behaving predictably.

We've discovered that the problem only occurs for panels categorized as "curtain panels". A work around is to re-categories your panels as "windows" or "doors".

This is terrible. I have hundreds of panels in a project that are reversing every time I make a change to them. I will probably go with making them "windows" but not ideal at all.
