I have downloaded a Pella DH Family off Revit City's exchange and would like to modify it into 2 and 3 mulled units? Has any one done this already and could share the family? If not, what is the best way to approach this? Should I nest in a duplicate window unit next to the single and do this for every unit size and what about the cut opening?

Thanks for the help!

I have singles and doubles - in each of the grid divisions and with matching catalogs from the Pella ADM. I'd be happy to send them, but they're too big to post here. Please PM me your email address (and anyone else who'd want them) and I'd be happy to send them all in a Zip archive.

If you're interested.

Here's one you could take a look at & might help you in setting up Pella mulled units.

This is just a standard DH similar to the one that ships with Revit.

It's an arrayed mulled unit that's good from 2 to ~.

Parameters include unit count, unit width, unit height, glass inset, & frame thickness.

Hosted objects don't hold up when arrayed, so I built the window as a non-hosted object, nested it into a hosted (window) family, & worked out the rest there.

You'll note that frame thickness is included as a parameter, as I couldn't seem to constrain the frame to edge of wall & have it hold up in the array. In hindsite, I could have avoided this by building the perimeter frame in the hosted object, but being able to adjust the frame thickness to match the wall thickness works.

I'm interested in Pella windows too but I don't want anything that's as complicated as the Andersens. Something very basic with a type catalog that is universal. I'd like to have all the manufacturers in one window family (marvin, pella, andersen, etc.). Anyone have something like this? Toggle trim on/off, adjust frame thickness, adjust muntin patterns, no hardware, no complicated profiles, etc.

I can work on the catalogs I just need a series of stable window families. Perhaps DH, Casement, Awning, Awning-over-Casement combo, Double and Triple DH, Double and Triple Casment. That would be a great start!

Cant create type. Anybody got an idea ?The structure of catalogs changed somewhere around 6 or 7 - the families were created in 5.1. There is a minor modification that has to be made on the catologs in new releases of Revit.

See the following thread for instructions:

i fixed the catalog, my issue is when inserting the windowd in a wall. Can't create type. Seems like there is something wrong in the family, any idea ?There is a known problem with the families when placing a window in a wall more than 8" thick. Sorry, I only found out about the problem after I uploaded them and I don't use walls more than 8" thick with windows. This might be the problem you're running into - otherwise I have no idea.

This is probably due to a bad alignement, i'll see if i can track the issue and will get back to it. Hopefullt i will find some times ;-)

It's been sent. Beware, the families are old (v4.5) and don't work in walls thicker than 12".
