Best way to draw a street gutter?

What's the best way to draw a street gutter on a sloping surface? Should I do a sweep broken up into segments? How do I go around a curve and change elevation at the same time? Would I be better off extruding along a path in AutoCAD then importing the object?

Also, I sure don't have a problem importing objects as you suggest if it is an elegant solution.
