Hi,

We are doing a tenant fit out. We imported the shell Revit model into our Tenant model. We are trying to mount a wall-mounted light fixture on the existing wall in the imported model. It won't attach to it.

It attaches instead to new walls in the tenant model.

Is there a solution which will allow us to affix the fixture to an existing wall in an imported model?

Thanks!

In order to attached to the face of the linked Revit Model, your Family will have to be Face-Based in lieu of Wall-Based. The process of conversion is a little convoluted, and requires the use of the Copy/Monitor tools.

1. Create a new Project, load in your families, draw a Wall, and place one instance of every TYPE of each family on it. Save this as a temp file somewhere.

2. Create another new Project, and link in the previously create project.

3. Use the Copy/Monitor tools to copy each of the instances into the current model. This creates a "face-based" version of the selected families.

4. Either open each the Families to save them somewhere or export them through the Project Browser.

These families can now be hosted to the "Vertical Faces" of the Linked Revit Model.
