View Full Version : 2013 Conceptual Mass Create Form
I have a series of varying profiles that I want to create a solid form. However in the conceptual mass family the form gets created with curved lines. Is there any way that the form can be created with straight lines connecting to the various profiles. I can get the look I want by using connected swept blends, but that is going to take a lot more time. Both versions attached. I want the look of the connected swept blends with the ease of creating form in the mass family. If it can't be done in the mass family is there any other way to get that result that is faster than building all the individual swept blends?

You can achieve the same behavior in the massing environment. Create all four of your profiles, let's call them 1-4, left to right.
If you create your form by selecting all of them at once you'll get the single spline, curved line joining them. If you select 1 and 2 then create form, then select 2 and 3 and create form etc. you'll get your straight line, connect the edges form.

I wouldn't even bother creating profiles. Simply create the initial form then Create Form. Select the form, go to X-Ray mode and add Profile as needed.
Thank you Dimitri and dhurtubise for the replies. Dimitri I tried your method and it works. dhurtubise your way could work as well, but just adding profiles I am back to curved surfaces which is what I am trying to get away from. Nevertheless, I learned more about massing with both replies!
