I've never used view templates before but I'm doing a tutorial in a Revit MEP book and it's using view templates to create space plans. It had me create a view template from the first floor space plan we created and then it had me create a view template from the space plan section we created. When I apply the section template to new sections it seems to work fine. When I apply the floor plan template it does a weird thing where it changes the view to the first floor plan. I know I'm still in on the second floor because the "spaces" I'm creating are following where the second floor walls should be appearing but instead the first floor walls are showing up and these don't line up. That's what made me notice it to begin with. The spaces being created didn't jive with the plan I was seeing. I'd cut sections and those would look ok until I realized they weren't reflecting what I was seeing in plan. I applied an architectural plan view template to this plan and it goes back to showing the correct floor plan. As soon as I apply the space plan template though it switches to the wrong floor. What am I missing??????

Maybe view range is being included in you view templates.

I turned off the View Range in the template and applied it to the floor plan and it still substituted the first floor for the second floor. Any other ideas?

I've been doing more exercises from this book and it's not just the view template I created during the exercise. Later exercises use new files supplied by the authors using the same building and when I go to their second floor space plans the spaces/zones are the ones on the second floor but the plan showing through is the first floor. Something is weird with the model they are using. I'm just not sure what it is. Anyone have any ideas? I don't know a lot about view templates but I'm planning to introduce them in our office and I would like to figure out what's causing this problem so I don't run into it on our projects.
