I'm a real old-timer (started in AutoCAD Version 9). My left hand has been using CNTL-C to *CANCEL* whatever command I'm in for almost 30 years now. I somehow got my Acad2011 setup at home to do that and not have that be the Windows Clipboard function (probably through some sort of customization porting wizard... I don't remember). Is there another way to bypass the stock Windows Accelerator Keys in AutoCAD versions since they dropped that option in the Options dialog boxes?

I've been using the Windows version of AutoCAD since r12 and there hasn't been a DOS version available since r13. Cancel is in the Context menu for command mode or get used to using the Esc key, having standard keyboard shortcuts that work for all the software I use is a plus to me. For the copy or line commands use enter to exit. You shouldn't need to *CANCEL* unless you've started a command by mistake, how often do you need it anyway?
I liked DOS, but having to know the keyboard shortcuts for different software I used was frustrating.

Pretty sure this can be done through the CUI. Just assign an override for ctrl+c. I override my F1 key to be an additional cancel so that the help doesn't pop up when I miss the esc key.

Move forward, just a small hop: get a mouse with a thumb button, assign that to the ESC key for AutoCAD.

Type in CUI to open the CUI editor.
In the upper left pane, click on "Keyboard Shortcuts"
In the upper right pane, scroll until you see the CTRL+C shortcut (if there are more than one, click on the one with the green check mark beside it)
When you click on that entry, the bottom right pane will show the properties for this shortcut.
The default macro is ^C^C_copyclip
Erase that and copy and paste the following in its place, and yes, include the parenthesis!
(repeat 3 (command))
Click OK.
You're done.
