View Full Version : Dragmode not working

In some files the Dragmode does not seem to be working correctly. When creating a dimension you select the two points then when you try to place the dimension you cannot see it. I was under the impression that dragmode is what controlled this. It is set correctly but you can still not see the dimension until you place it, and you usually need to move it to place it in the correct location. Are there any other place to look to fix this?

Hi

Have a browse of the following threads -

invisible leaders (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=8675)

Invisible Dimensions (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=12834)

+

Can you please post a sample drawing file that demonstrates the "Invisible Dimension Text" behaviour.

Have a good one, Mike

Mike,

My problem is similar to the "invisible dimension" question. I select my first point, select the second point then the command prompt will read "Specify dimension line location or" and the dimension is not visible until it gets placed. This will happen in one drawing but not another which seems odd. That is the description, and here is the file where this is
occurring.

Thanks for your help.

Hi

Turn ON Layer 0 (Zero) ie un-Freeze.

Drawing file should then be good to go.

Mike,

Thank you very much for that solution. Why is the 0 layer causing a dimension string to work like that? From what I can tell there is no information in the Dimstyle that is using Layer 0. So what is causing it for future knowledge.

Thanks again for that fix, I appreciate it.

Hi

I honestly can't explain properly (hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about will comment), but in the meantime, Layer 0 and Defpoints have "special" properties within AutoCAD that can cause certain strange behaviour under certain conditions....

The following thread might be of some interest -

Model space lines (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=4179)

Sorry I can't explain any better than the rubbish I have written above.

Have a good one, Mike

I understand the craziness that goes on with 0 and Defpoints, enough said.

Maybe the dimension is acting like a block that is on zero, and it takes on the layer 0 properties until is is finally place when it can take on the properties of the current layer. I don't know, but you got the answer I have looked for before and had no luck.

Thanks a lot for your help.
