Although I have been using Revit for nearly 10 years now, I am on my first all-Revit project: MEP, structural, FP, contractor, the whole nine yards, Navis included. Consequently, there are some features of Revit that are new to me. One of them is copy/monitor. I am either using it incorrectly, or the tool is not as good as it should be.

The team agreed to let the structural engineer be the source for column lines, and the rest of us would copy monitor from their link file. So I did the collaborate/copy/monitor and got the little zig-zag icon on the copied lines. Now whenever I reload the structural link I get a warning that the lines need coordination. but it doesn't tell me where! This project is on the side of a hill and has many, many lines, some for a single column only. It would be nice if Revit could tell me what changed.

Am I missing something?

Never used that option before either, but when you select structural link click on Coordination Review under Modify|RVT Links and you should get a dialog box that tells you where the problem is. Hope it helps.

Were any grid lines copied on top of other grid lines?

Because I have been caught with discrepancies from the structural model, I now delete all copied grid lines every time I receive a new link file and copy/monitor the entire set of lines from the link. So it is unlikely there are duplicate lines.

The point of Copy/Monitor is to let you see when changes occur and to update yours to match the changes to their grids. You use Coordination Review to evaluate and respond to them.
