Linked models and Design Options

I have an existing conditions model (of an airport) that i'm linking into 2 other models (North; South). The thought was to create a more efficient workflow for the team. We now need to create design options for the 2 models (North; South) that require work be done on the linked model (existing conditions) such as removing walls, floors, etc. This is what i did:

1. Created design options in the linked model.
2. Created the same named design options for the North and South models.
3. Assigned design option views to options in all models.
4. Set visibility for the linked model to "By Linked View" (not "Hosted") in the North/South models.

Well, this "ain't" working...i've looked around and can't find direction as to how to do this. My problem is that the design option work in the existing conditions model doesn't show up in the North or South models; it doesn't "link". Can someone shed some light? Thanks much.

I think you have it except for the last step, step 4... set the visibility for the linked model to "Custom" then go to the Design Options tab (still within the Linked model visibility settings) and choose which design options to show.

We do this all the time because we'll have a linked site model, for example, and want to do options that incorporate changes in both the building and the site.

Thanks much for the info. i didn't notice those tabs in the Link Display Settings, for some reason, and of course it now seems like i wasn't far off track. Nevertheless, i still can't see the changes i made to the linked model, even after setting the view of the linked model to that of the design option. i thought maybe the phasing might be off, but both models are set to New Construction/Show Previous + New.

Under "Basics" in the display settings, i have the view set to the name of the corresponding view in the linked model, wondering if it shouldn't instead be set to the DO view (which isn't available in the list). Any ideas?

OK. solved.

For some reason i wasn't able to choose the DO plan in the Basics menu from the North model, but today it appears. Choosing that was the missing link, and now the plan appears.
