IFC Files

Hey guys,

We received an IFC file from a steel fabricator that is using Tekla.

I have tried to open it in Revit Structure 2013 and 2014. The file takes a while to load but when it does open nothing shows up. Nothing is hidden or anything.

Similar happened with an IFC we got from architects using Archicad.

At the moment we have to open the IFC in Naviswork, export a FBX file, import into 3ds Max, export to 3D dwg, into Revit family and then into the project.

Surely that is not the way to get the IFC file into Revit.

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you using the Tekla add- on to help with the import.? This will help with mapping of objects. Also check if your Tekla user is using the export to Revit tool to help create the export file.

I don't have the Tekla file, i was sent an ifc file. I might ask them to send teh file to me and try it this way.

Will ask them about the exporting.
