Can someone tell me how to remove cross line from cylinder face, when I use AutoCAD 2012? See attachment for detail. Thanks.

The faceted appearance on your cylinder will only display if you use the legacy Hide command. If you use the Hidden visual style instead, the faceted appearance will not show. You can also use the Solprof command to extract a view from curved solids inside a standard Mview viewport in paperspace. The resulting 2D blocks which are generated will not display the triangular faces.
Hope this is helpful.

Thanks, Kevin.
Actually, it's not working. If you can see my attachment, I just want to display a vertical line on the face of cylinder. I don't want to show a slope line between two (2) vertical lines.

Hi Nathan. Are you using Visual Styles at all? If you are in the standard, 2D wireframe mode, typically used for drafting and initial sketches for 3D models, and you type HI to start the old HIDE command, you will get the faceted (triangular faces). But, if you use Visual Styles you can select a newer, faster, shinier and better version of a Hidden view. The visual styles also allow you to display a variety of shaded, greyscale, or even charcoal sketch types of views.

Hi, Kevin,
See attachment for detail. I just modify your picture in 1st. picture. Rest shows I am able to do so. Is there any way I can make like this, only vertical line on the face of cylinder? Thanks. For some reason, I am not able to attach a picture. Just use your first picture, erase slope line, keep vertical line.
Can I have your e-mail? I can send your attachment to show what I need. Nathan@tmoriarty.com

Hi Nathan,
Yes, it is possible but you will need to modify an existing visual style or create a new, custom visual style with the Visual Styles Manager. If you start with the Hidden visual style and look under "Edge Settings", you can change the "Show" setting from Facet Edges to Isolines. The next field below allows you to specify the number of isolines which will show on any curved face of your solid models. It defaults to 4 but if you increase it to 16 or 32 it will look more like your cylinder in your original attachment. You can email me at kbrown@caddtrain.com if you still have trouble with it.
ps - The isolines are imaginary lines which would never appear on a curved face in the real world. The cylinder will look more realistic without them. :)

Kevin,
You are right. I am able to make cylinder like whatever I need. Thanks for your help. By the way, is there any way do you have information "BIM"? It's very popular in construction sector. I will be touch with you.

Hi Nathan,
Glad to hear you got the visual styles to work for you. BIM is "Building Information Modeling" and you would be using Revit Architecture to create this type of work. AutoCAD is slick and allows you to model virtually any 3D form including architectural parts or even buildings but they will not contain the same type of intelligence and parametric behavior as a building model created with a BIM program such as Revit Architecture.
