I am creating stairs by sketch to do a schematic layout of stairs through a core in a highrise. In Revit 2014 you can do double switchback stairs in one sketch, which is great, however I the handrails do not seem to be working out properly. One of the starting (low) handrails ends up going up to the top of the stair rather than to the bottom where it is supposed to be (see attached images - handrail as modeled in blue, handrail as it should be in red). Does anyone know how I can fix this, either through editing it or as a some sort of preset override? Many thanks.

Let me guess ... you edited the rail's path after drawing the stair? I've seen this happen all the time, for some reason railing s work if they're automatically generated for the stair (on these switch-back stairs), but not when manually made / changed.

Also if the settings for the rail does not exactly place the balusters and/or rail (at least some of them) directly on the host (i.e. stair) it seems to go haywire too. This is sometimes a situation of the offset causing this issue. Try playing around with the rail type's offset parameter.
