Flickering drafting view

When drawing / typing in a drafting view the whole screen redraws.
Selecting a line - screen redraw
selecting text - screen redraw
typing one character - screen redraw
the result is a flickering screen like I'm watching a very old movie :banghead:
It only is in a drafting view, same project in plan or section view is no flikker

Before I start messing with video drivers etc. I would ask if someone is experiencing the same

Hi Nic, I tried but I don't see it flicker, but I notice that the option menu comes on and then turns off, but the screen doesn't redraw...or I have awful eyes and cannot see it refresh...

I enabled "Use overlay planes to improve.."
and the flickering stops.

Dell precision 670
nvidia fx 1300 (driver 6.1.7.6 by dell)
