Number detail items - Best solution?

Hi all,

I need to create sequential numbering for a section of brick coursing (using detail components), is there way of doing this without numbering each brick one by one? Essentially looking to create a sequential tag or similar.

Maybe just a clever family woudl suffice that doesnt relate itself to the brick detail item, but simply auto numbers istelf as you expand it out.

Any ideas and solutions would be very helpful.
