Autocad-ers - AutoCAD 2012, 64bit. When drawing in model space, layer 0 goes from my color of chosing to white. I switch to paper space and back to model and the color is restored for a few more movements. How do I stop that?

Could be the video card what are your systems specs? Is Hardware Acceleration on? Type in 3DCONFIG at the command line and check the view tune log and/or click on the help button for some explanation of most of the settings in that dialog.

Doing anything with DEFPOINTS layer? The two are related. More to the point, layer 0 is best left for block definitions, with "real" drawing content placed on relevant layers.

Thanks team - I was able to up grade the graphics card, Layer 0 is still transforming to white color. I will deal w/ it as it is.
Thanks tons for your help.

...Layer 0 is still transforming to white color.

So does it just change on screen, or does the actual layer color change (as verified by looking in the layer manager)?

It does not happen on every drawing. When it does white out, I can cursor over it and it is a blend of my color of choice and white.

The layers property manager still displays my color of choice. The line drawn in now white.

Since it only happens on "some" DWGs: What's your Visual Style set to? Also (since you mention changing between MS/PS) is the colour set as a viewport override or the Layer's global colour?

Alternatively (dgorsman's given some sound advise) the Defpoints do make strange things happen with entities on Layer 0. Ensure that Defpoints is on and thawed, otherwise Layer 0 entities go all haywire (from my personal experience they go all pixelated and/or becomes unseletable). For that matter try to avoid drawing anything on Defpoints, because these haywire entities sometimes don't fix themselves even after turning Defpoints back on. It's best to avoid those 2 layers as much as possible, Layer 0 is only to be used inside of blocks, Defpoints should be avoided at all costs.

Try swapping out your monitor. Last week I experienced this with a user on one of his two monitors. I have not done much to research our exact issue since he is only in the office 2 days a week but I believe it is the monitor itself.

To all - Visual styles are set to 2D wire frame. No colors are over written. No layers are off or frozen. I did swap monitors. Am in Afghanistan leaving the country Sunday after 4 years. If none of the suggesed fixes works the next operator will deal w/ it.
Thanks to all, and to all a goodnight. David Ebinger
