Hi all,

I've been having some weird issues with Revit (2013) lately. Every half hour or so, I have this strange problem. Selections don't bring up the appropriate ribbon and I get strange new ribbon options below the regular ribbon (see attached). Also, objects no longer dynamically highlight when I mouse over them. The only work around I have found is to open a new project or family and then close it. It seems to reset itself after that and work properly again. This may be unrelated, but Revit has also been "not responding" about once or twice a day lately. It never comes back. I end up having to close it and lose any work I haven't synced.

The project is large, 190mb or so, and is workshared on Revit Server.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this? Or does anyone have any idea what's causing it? Any help would be appreciated.

I will venture a guess that you also have Revit 2014 installed, correct? If so, then this is a known issue that affects both Revit 2012 and 2013. Here are a couple of related threads on the subject, in case it's of any help...

Hmm. Interesting. I do have 2014 installed so and it does seem like it's probably related to .NET Framework after reading those other threads. However... both threads suggest that update release 3 should fix it. I have update release 3 and am still having the same problem. :(

If I remember correctly, I think there is a patch that is not update release 3. We've had this problem in our office a number of times, and our IT guy (out today, so I can't ask) fixed it. All I can remember is that I think it's a patch, from Autodesk. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Any chance you could ask him? :)

If you haven't found what you are looking for by Monday, I'd be happy to ask when he's back in the office.

The solution is to download and install all the upgrade packages for Revit 2013, in order.
