Hi guys,
I am having some problems to report volume for structural framing families loaded into Revit project. What I intended to do is to create a schedule to report the volume of r.c. beams but even I put in the field of volume into my schedule, it just don't give me any outputs..the same one I did in structural r.c.columns did show all the volume report but not in r.c. beams. Anyone facing the same problems or is it just me with the problems?
Thanks in advance..

The schedule should be reporting the volumes.
I assume the rc beams are appearing in the schedule, just not the volumes, so that precludes a phase error.

Hi again,
Guess I figure out what went wrong..The problem exists because previously, I was working on Revit 6.1 & I duplicated and changed the r.c beams sizes from default property. Apparently when I upgraded to Revit 7.0 lately, I open that previous project done in Revit 6.1.. the volume report just don't come out...I just tried in Revit 7.0 and it happens to be that it does not allow for edit the property of the structural r.c.beams. Could that be the case??
Any ideas or work-arounds on this?

I started a new 6.1 project, loaded and placed RC beams from the 6.1 library, duplicated one of the beams and changed its size, length & family name and scheduled the beams with volume.
I then saved and closed the 6.1 project , before opening with 7.0. Everything updated the way it should.
I suggest you may need to send your file to support for them to investigate further.

Do you mean you open your 6.1 project with Revit 7.0 and everything goes ok? In my case, everything works fine too in 6.1 (because I did check out the schedule report based on the 6.1 previously and I didn't witness any errors) but the problems occurred after the project loaded in 7.0. If it works well in yours case, then there must be something wrong with my file...I will relook into it later or perhaps I should post my rvt file here..
Thanks for your helps beegee.
btw, Is it true that we can't change the sizes of the r.c. beams (structural) in Revit 7.0? As far as I see it, I can't change them even I duplicate them because there are no length or width labels in field..
the If it is true, why those features are taken away in 7.0? and how to get around it & still remain it's proper structural property reporting?

I created the project in 6.1 and then saved it. I then opened it using 7.0, which generates an upgrade process. After that is performed, the file can no longer be opened using 6.1.

You can change the size of rc beams in 7.0, just as you can in 6.1. See image.

ic, I can got the size change now..this is because there are 2 sets of r.c beams. I think I might got it wrong at the first place..beegee
1 set is SA_Concrete-Rectangular Beam under metric library> Structural> Beams folder.
(This beam family did not allow to change beam sizes)
1 set is M_Concrete-Rectangular Beam under metric library> Structural> Framing> Beams folder.
(This beam family allows to change beam sizes)
In this case, I must have got confused when I make the wrong assumption on my initial case.
btw, Can anyone explain why there is a need for 2 sets of the structural beams where one is parametric & one is not? Both have the same structural fields.

Sorry for the hassle..beegee & everybody who had viewed this thread.
I confirm there nothing wrong with the schedule report.
It is my fault..what I did wrong was I click off the itemize every instance (under sorting & grouping) & never set the volume to calculate total (under formatting). Once I click of the itemize every instance button and all the separate beams' volume shown. By then I realized my mistakes.
Please disregard this thread or moved it away to avoid further confusions. Sorry for the troubles especially to beegee..
