It sure is taking that jogger a long time to get to the front door! :) Nice renderings as always. Roof in day shot could use some texture.

Hey Chris, nice stuff. Two questions, one, what happened to the overhanging tree in the night rendering, hurricane, tornado? Second (more serious), is the night rendering radiated or just rendered?

Just curious, why the drastic difference between the building in the foreground with the gray slate-look roof, and the building in the left-background with the red standing seam metal roof?

Hey, nice composition Boss! There's that Red porshhh again...man that car is everywhere and it's still in great shape too! I agree, that jogger should be at least heading the other way by now?? As always I love the signature "Z" manicured lawn and flower planting beds.

I suspect the lack of texture is a result of "squashing" the image to improve viewing time on the little ole bb right? My old buddy BK would crop out your image so those pesky trees weren't so present. But eyelikem!

Hurry up and git out them othern rendurs...(it's tough having to compliment the boss so much, but it's what we moderators must do otherwise he just never sends the checks out, hey I'll trade my next check for that lawn material map!!) :D

Thanks for the comments guys...

that jogger is a bit slow  About roof textures: As Steve pointed out all texture is lost with compression, however I have never been happy with any asphalt roof texture i have used, does anyone have a good suggestion or a material to recommend?

I did the night shot first this time around and didn't have to add the foreground goodies because it looked pretty good, but when the sun came up the lack of entourage was apparent. Plus the final board had the day shot 21x32 with the night shot inset at 10x21. The night shot was a straight raytrace (no time to run a radiosity on this one)

The red standing seam roof (quickly built using a tip from arnel 8) ) was supposed to make the pool house look more "barn like" as if it was there before all this. I am beginning to think it's a less successful aspect of this design, ….we'll see if it stays.

Good job Chris,

The only other suggestion I have is that the color on the roof does not have a lot contrast to the sky. A different or darker color (if you are allowed to) would help pop that roof out a little bit more.

The day image needs more contrast on the clubhouse. As for roof texture, i have some good asphalt textures, I usually have to doctor them up in paint shop pro(make the joint lines heavier. They are huge images, so I'm not sure where to post them, if you can handle email, shoot me an email and I'll get them to you that way.

Here are the textures I have

If the intent was to make it look like it was there before, I think you are somewhat sucessful. When I first looked at your images, I thought "maybe the red roof building was existing, and the new building is in front of it." As for making it look more barn-like, I think I would expect something more rustic than a metal roof. Maybe a wood shake roof. Just a thought.....otherwise, great lloking renderings as usual! Love the glowing moon in the night shot!

Update to this project. (Yeah, I know, it's been a while ;) )

It's gone through tons of design changes, but were into CD's now, and just had through together the marketing package that includes a high def video. It was quite a shotgun redesign, we had 2 weeks to have the bid set complete and the marketing package done, 4 of us were working in the same little model, I was adding stuff to the design, and they were documenting right behind me

Anyway, I ran out of time on a few these as you can tell, but I'm done for now.

Really NICE work Chris! You really ought to be teaching some stuff on this at AU mister... The exterior shot, the white material over the entrance seems washed out...which I assume is the resolution of the posted image as opposed to the finished product? Like I said already...Really nice!

Admit it...you were worried about BeeGee having something for next month's gallery front page right? So you made sure he'd have something...;)

Scott,

Is there a web site I can download some of these? Or are they ones you played with yourself? I am just starting to get into learning about rendering . . for the third time! and a few of those would come in handy . . . :-)

Chris, as always your renderings never fail to impress, especially the interior shot's. What sort of time does it take you to set up an images such as choice of materials, tweaking the image, lighting etc. or is it something that comes with experience of using AccuRender.

Paul.

I'm assuming thats not all accurender interiors?

Regardless, the quality is just getting better and better. Just goes to show... one step at a time. Get your components sorted, get your materials sorted, get your lighting sorted......repeat & improve......repeat & improve......repeat & improve!

Very impressive, especially in contrast to the original images. It really shows your improvement over the last couple of years.

Wow! czoog really amazing stuff!!

Couple of questions though, if you have the time:

1) Are all the renderings produced in Revit? Is it just Revit and Photoshop, or have you used something else?

2) How would I go about creating sidewalks, like you have done?

Thanks.

Thanks for the comments.

Sorry, I failed to mention that these are not AccuRender images, they are viz and Vray. 95% of the modeling is Revit say for a few pieces of furniture, the soft fluffy stuff that would be too hard to build Revit. (I contracted them out to be made in Max)

After all the modeling is done it takes me about a day to dial in the materials and lighting. Also I have been working with 32bit images lately which helps alot. I can drastically change the lighting levels and exposure without a re-render when working in 32bit mode, even 16bit is a big help.

2) How would I go about creating sidewalks, like you have done?

Thanks. If you are talking about the pool image, the dimonds and base floor were modeled in revit, and cement tile texture was placed on it in viz, then I moved the UVW mapping gizmo to line up with the tile, added some bump and glossy reflections in a vray material and that was it. I really wish revit had some ability to create UVW mapping cooridinates.

The exterior sidewalks and grass areas are just floors and the curbs are floor slab edges.

Chris,

Vray is amazing, isn't it? The way it "pops" the lighting. It's amazing the difference (I have a couple of friends who are Viz gurus). The price is a little steep - just for a lighting engine, but . . . I guess you've got to pay if you want to play. . .

Hey Chris,
That pool interior view is amazing! The water surface, floor tile and sunlight entering the building is absolutely some of the best rendered images I have ever seen!
You are the king!

My god, how did I ever miss this post?

Stunning Zoog...and very inspirational as well...

Those are beauties, all the way... The water in the pool is fantastic.

Hats off man...

These really are excellent renderings and the building models look great too. The roofs are so cleans and sort of "cut-up" as we call it around here. I am beginning to learn the roofing system a bit more, day at a time and finding that I was wrong about revit. It might not be able to roof an entire roof in one shot, but broken up, you can do things that other programs can't. Day at a time.

I really don't mind that Revit doesn't have Viz quality rendering built in, but there should be some bidirectional functionality between the two. I wish that were doing a Revit Series that included Viz instead of Autocad. We got the series just in case, but we hardly use Autocad for anything useful. Not to mention it is hard to work in ACAD after working in Revit. Viz would have been much more useful as can been seen in czoog's renderings.

The post lives again ;)

Thanks for the kind words guys.

raeburnmark, the water is a fairly simple Vray material, with a noise map in the bump slot. I can post the material setting when I get into work tomorrow.
