Painting Structural Column

Hi there,

Simple question! Why won't Revit let me paint the faces of a Structural Column?

Hi! Revit wont let you change the columns. Its pretty easy to create your own columns by extruding them in place. Then you can make them any material you want. Sometimes if I am doing 6x6 wood columns (maybe for a porch) I extrude plastic covers over them to produce the color I need for my rendering.

If you're trying to change the color, why not modify the material for the family?
Or if you want, I believe you can now (starting 2013 I believe) change the material of structural column by instance and not type. Not sure why they decided to change that since it now makes it harder, to globally change the colors....But it's now an option.
