CANT Detach walls from roof

Revit ARch 2014. I have attached a number of walls to a flat roof. Now I need to remodel the roof, but I can't detach the walls. I have tried selecting and then using the detach icon and the "detach walls" in the properties is ticked, but greyed out and won't allow any changes.

Any suggestions? If I delete the roof, or modify it, it deletes the attached wall. Its a hotel, and a fair amount of work has been done in creating the walls.

Im curious about why the walls are being erased if you remove the roof. Try cut and pasting back the walls

my suggestion is cut and paste aligned also...but I see no reason why they wouldnt detach, can you give a bit more info about the symptoms and proceedure you are using to detach? And are you 100% sure they have been attached to the roof and not to a ref plane, or the level accidentally or that someone hasn't edited the profile? (try resetting the profile too)

Did you by chance draw the roof first, and then selected it perimeter when drawing your walls?
