Hi all,

Is there a way to make AutoCAD read a remote desktop connection as an actual drive on a PC and allow for tool palette file locations (among others) to be pathed back to it? :?:

I ask this because we currently have a custom tool palette and other customization files saved on a local server, but I've been asked to get them setup on a guy working remotely from across the state. He can access our files and everything, but does so through a Windows Remote Desktop Services connection, which doesn't allow for users to path back to it since it's literally working on a completely different machine.

The only workaround I see is to copy all of the files used to create the toolbars somewhere locally to his PC, but that isn't going to fly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to understand here..... bear with me....

Joe is in Miami logging into machine "JoeMiami", then he remotes into machine "JoeTampa" and runs AutoCAD off of "JoeTampa"
You want "JoeTampa" to read tool palettes stored on machine "JoeMiami"?
Am I close?

While I've never worked remotely via 'Windows Remote Desktop', I have done a fair amount of remote work... I've had a great deal of success working with Offline Files. May take a bit to run first sync, but handles updates nicely, and can be configured to run at specific times, if only at login, etc. is insufficient. The files/folders set to be available offline maintain the original drive paths while working offline, which makes SFSP & shortcuts maintain functionality.

The only issue I've experienced with Offline Files, is when needing to rename & renumber via SSM - That does not work properly for some reason.

Working online again is as simple as toggling a button in Windows Explorer.

Agree with RK that the situation needs clarification.

If the remote user is sitting on JoeMiami, and logging in with RDP to JoeTampa, is the server in the same location as JoeTampa? If that's the case, then he _ought_ to be able to map resources on ServerTampa to his login on JoeTampa, even though he's in Miami.

If you'r tying to map resources on JoeMiami's Desktop to his remote login desktop on JoeTampa, then that's really going to be a PITA.
