On our site plans we use slab edge sweeps for things like curbs, curb and gutter, etc. The problem is that when in sketch mode editing a topo, or a floor, the projected edge lines of the slab edge sweeps turn invisible, while everything else is halftone. When I pan or zoom, hatch patterns disappear, but the slab edge projected lines appear. After I finish panning or zooming, the hatch patterns come back, but the slab edge lines disappear again. Makes it difficult to place topo points along or near those edges.

Is it some graphic setting maybe?

Not that many experience with topo's myself, but I do come across this when editting floors/roofs with sub elements... When things start to disappear in editing mode, just draw some detail lines over the lines you're interested in, these stay visible all the time... I know it's not a real sollution, but it does work.

Are you using 2014?
There's a new settings called Optimized View Navigation. That would explain the texture being turn off when you move around.
As for the lines not visible, check if the line category is turn on and if its within the View Range.

I tried changing the Optimized Navigation setting, but that had no effect on the slab edge projected lines disappearing while in sketch mode. It seems odd that they would appear while panning or zooming, so it's definitely not the category being turned off.
