View Full Version : Acad Link File Display Probs
Hi All
I have linked acad dwg in my Revit project which I am using as a demo plan. When I go to change something on the acad plan in acad and come back to Revit, all my layer turn on which I have had previously turn off or even frozen off.
I turn them off again but then if I have to make more changes, then I have to go thru the whole layer turning off process again and again.
Is this a bug ? or am I missing a setvar like say VISRETAIN in acad ?
many thanks in advance

If you get your project set up with the proper visibility, for everything including AutoCAD layers, then save your settings as a View Template. Then if things revert back upon reloading, just apply your saved template to get your setting back.
Thanks Scott
We have just tried that but it only works on the Revit view settings, The acad setting dont get applied, are we missing a step ?
We noticed the model and annotation changes come across but not the imported categories.

I was running to the same problems. one other problem I ran into was that when I reloaded the linked cad file it also turned all the layers that a set to be black and white to the original color. The revit guys told me that this was a bug and they fixed it in the latest build. you can download the latest build (Build Number: 20050201_2130 ) at

The new build doesn't seem to help with layer state retention only with the colour settings.
OK the old, new build doesn't seem to help with layer state retention only with the colour settings. Haven't tried this latest build no. Do we know what the new, new build has in it.
You have to be really quick around here, just spotted the other thread regarding the new build details.
Just tried the latest build and it doesnt fix this problem.
Could the factory look at this or even comment.
many thanks
