Hi everyone,

My question is about using profiles (profile family) in a framing family to control the shape of the sweep.

The thing is, I have checked the Revit framing families such as the channel one, and that one works with a profile for the sweep fine and the sweep medium. I checked both profiles families to try to understand how they work.

Now I created my own profile family, I loaded it into my framing family, the sweep is generated succesfully but, when I change the parameters values, such as the depth or flange (parameters created in both profile family and framing family), the sweep does not update and keeps the dimensions given by the profile family by default.

Can anyone be nice to explain me how to create my profile families and use them into framing families so that the parameters in the framing family change my profiles values hence my sweep dimensions?

Thanks and regards.

Well, I have been looking for this solution for months (in my defense I didn't tried very hard) and the solution is very simple.

- Just load the profile family into the framing family.
- In the project browser, under Families look for Profiles, the profile family and a default type shall appear.
- Select the profile type and right click it; select Type Properties from the drop list.
- There you'll see the parameters created in the profile family, at the right there are the grey bottoms, click there to go to you framing family parameters.
- Select the corresponding Framing family parameter to match the right Profile family parameter, and done.
