Hi there,

I am very new to Revit and am documenting a small project.

I set up two files for the project - a building file and a site file - because I thought it'd make it easier to move the building around the site. Now that we have a specific location we want to put the building on, I want to import the building model into my site model - except when I highlight the building model, there is no 'Bind' option.

Am I blind or does this function not exist in Revit LT 2015?? This is giving me a massive headache :( Please help!

You don't want to "Bind" your site plan into your model....trust me on this. Leave it linked. As for "is the feature there", I would say no since it should be right next to the Manage Links button...

I thought it'd make it easier to move the building around the site.

I'm guessing you started out in Acad? In Acad the building moves around on the site. In Revit, it is just the opposite. The analogy I have most often seen is a wine glass on a table cloth. In Acad the glass moves. In Revit, the cloth moves.

I have done several projects with separate site and building files, and it gets to be a real pain sometimes.

If your site has relatively few elements in it, I would bind the site file into the building file, if possible.

I read a method on here for getting topo point elevations to read real-world elevations, while still being in the correct place vertically, and still allowing 0'-0" to show as my ground floor level in elevations. That was my main reason for using separate site files, because of the toposurface point elevations (it has no shared/project settings), so these days I don't really do separate site files at all.

I'd never build a project without using a site and a project file. It's exactly because it's so easy to move you file around and republish that i can't see how do to otherwise.

So no binding for sure, as for the LT feature, yes Link Files usage is limited in LT.
