Hello,

I'd like to be able to add multiple labels (mark, circuit #, and switch leg) to a tag to apply to a light fixture. However, I would like some of the labels to be optional.

When I make 1 tag with all 3 labels, then the user is forced to use all 3 tags. However, when I make 3 separate tags, then Revit complains that I can only apply 1 tag to each light fixture.

Any ideas? I apologize for my inexperience with Revit.

Revit does allow you to assign more than one Tag to a given element. When you are in the mode of tagging elements, it just doesn't let the same element get Tagged twice in a row. You have to restart the command or Tag another element first.

You can also set this up as a single Tag Family. Open your Tag Family and create a Label for each configuration of data you wish to be available. Open the Family Types dialog and create a new Yes/No Parameter (Type) that corresponds to each Label. Now create a new Family Type that corresponds to each Yes/No Parameter, and make sure only that Yes/No Parameter is checked for each. Select each of the Labels and link their Visibility (under Properties) to the appropriate Yes/No Parameter. Move all of the Labels to the origin, overlapping each other. You can move a Label by the center point by creating a Group, moving it by the Group's center point, and Ungrouping it afterwards.

I figured out how to add more than 1 tag, however it is only one at a time. I cannot figure out how to use "tag all" to apply multiple tags, even after restarting the command.

I tried putting the tags into 1 tag family as you described and that works for visibility. However, then the user doesn't have the option to move individual tags; they have to move the whole group together.

Thank you for your help!

Note that the full name of that command is "Tag All Not Tagged". I was referring to the "Tag By Category" command. Not much that can be with this, unless you create a separate View, use Tag All with the second Tag, and then Cut & Paste them to the original View.

There's not much than can be done if you have to move the annotative components individually. At least nothing I can think of.
