It's been a long time since I imported a cad file into revit with editing enabled. I need to bring a large commercial project site plan into revit to draw to water features
near a theater entrance. Having 2 problems so far-
1. For whatever reason, the building I need to show the most isn't coming through on the import, (or link cad). See attachment. I checked the layers in the cad file and they are all turned on and thawed.
2. I am unable to edit the file.
Can someone please remind me how to do this. Using Revit 2015 and autocad 2015.
Thank You.

Phil,
Is the Building an X-Ref? Were "Layers" deleted in Revit from the CAD file? Did you check your VG settings for Imported Categories. Some of the CAD layers might have been turned off.

I tried everything you mentioned except checking the vg settings. will do.
For the record, here is autodesk's subscription support reply-
While were were not able to see why the elements are not showing up (there don’t seem to be any errors triggered within Revit), we did find that running the EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command in AutoCad, and saving the file with a new name gets all of the information to show up.
Having said that, we have seen this type of behavior in the past when exporting dwgs with Autocad vertical (AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD MEP, etc.) specific objects in them. The workaround in those cases as well is to use the EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command, then link the resulting .dwg into Revit.
Will try this when i have a minute. Hope it helps.
Thank You.

I can see straight away in that image you linked that your import is set to "background". Click on the import, under "other" in the porperties box set it to "foreground" instead of background.

Thanks Craig and I see what you're talking about. But, for some unknown reason, when I select the import now, there's only one option under "other" which is the "shared site" option you see in the attachment. the "Draw layer" is no longer there???
I addiosed the link and re-linked a couple times but still no "Draw layer" option.
