Model obscured by link in 3D view

I've been seeing this fairly often lately: In a 3D view, a link obscuring the model. It happens whether the view detail level is set to coarse, medium or high and visual style set to hidden or any of the shaded flavors. I included a partial screen capture to better portray what I'm seeing. I have not found any visual overrides for the link to give it transparency, so I can't tell what is causing it to display like that.

That could be just a display. Does it print that way?
Type VV (see pic), in step 3 under basics tab click on ‘custom’, then under model categories tab set transparency to 100% for all categories. See what happens.

I remember seeing the problem in 2013, i think we deleted the view and recreated it to solve it.
