Topo section cut fill pattern override not responding.

So I have a toposurface which is not responding to the changes I make in the view templates visibility graphics override for topography cut pattern. Any thoughts? It responds when I modify the override for cut line. It also appears that the material set to earth displays the earth hatch pattern but I would like to override this in some views to display a solid gray color.

I think it can only be changed globally under Site Settings>Section cut material

Change the cut pattern for Topography to change the default material
