I have a linetype I want to share with my coworkers. I do not know its origin. I want to add it to our .lin file of custom linetypes. If I use DesignCenter I can load the linetype into a new drawing but I would like to include it into the master .lin file. I have tried mkltype but line appears to the command to be continuous so it does not create a linetype. I have tried to explode it without success. Have I missed a thread that addresses this? Do you have suggestions?

So you do not have the linetype definition in the .LIN format? If not, then go grab NEW-LIN.LSP or TO-LIN.LSP from http://www.turvill.com/t2/free_stuff/index.htm
These will extract linetype definitions from DWG files and then you can copy+paste into your master LIN file.

RK McSwain--Thank you. This was exactly the answer I needed. It turns out that some of the linetypes are based on shape file which I will have to see if I can find. If I can find the shapes I can get all the linetypes. Now, if I can just remember where I saved the source files...
