Never having come across this before, so i don;t have any real suggestions - other than to verify the video card/driver is supported.

If it happens in all drawings, it's probably a machine specific thing. If it only occurs in a couple of drawings, post a sample showing the problem.

Many of us have had a viewport corrupted at some time or another and had to recreate it. Like cadtag said if it's only on a few drawings post one here or have someone else at your office check it out. Does it plot correctly? If so then it's definitely a video card issue. Lots of links with different solutions with a quick internet search. Without the drawing hard to speculate what's causing the problem.

There's one link with the same name Frozen layer in Viewport becoming visible after save (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2010-2011-2012/Frozen-layer-in-Viewport-becoming-visible-after-save/td-p/3364011/page/2) on the Autodesk forum. Someone from Product Support fixed the title block carried over from a previous version and solved the problem.

Other questions, or maybe I missed it...

Is the viewport still frozen but visible in this case?
Or do you mean it is thawed after save?

If the latter, maybe a new routine has been introduced to thaw certail layers upon saving?

Just something else to think about.
